Hello, Good Day, & Hope You’re Doing Well This Day.
I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 & I was able to Download the most recent System Update, however after Download Completed it didn’t begin the Install.
Now when I go to my Settings Page, when I Click on the ‘Software update is available’ then it says “please wait” & then does nothing.
I have plenty of Memory, so I assume that cannot be the issue.
Will you please help me figure how to finish the system software update & installed on my device?
I have screenshots of the setting screen selection, if that may help give more information.
Dina
Make sure that your phone has at least 3 GB memory space. If you are still unable to install the recent software update, try these tweaks:
1. Restart your phone. Doing so will refresh your phone’s system and clear out minor glitches that are preventing the update to be installed.
> Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
> Wait as the device restarts.
Then try to manually install the update again.
Head to Settings->Software update. Then follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the update.
If you are still unable to manually install the software update, try the next solution.
2. Clear cache partition on your device.
Corrupted cached data on your device can also be the underlying cause. To rule this out, do the following:
> Turn off your phone.
> Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
> Release only the Power key when the device logo screen displays.
> When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
> Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
> Press the Power key to select.
> Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
> When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
> Press the Power key to restart the phone.
Once the phone is back on, go back to Settings->Software Update to manually download and install the update.
3. Restore your phone to factory default settings. (Master Reset)
This option will delete everything that is saved on your phone’s memory. So make sure to backup your files before performing a master reset.
> Turn off your Galaxy phone.
> Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
> Once the device logo screen displays, release the Power key.
> When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
> Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
> Press Power button to select.
> Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
> Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
> ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted when the master reset is complete.
> Press the Power key to restart your Galaxy device.
Once done, update your phone again.
If none of these solutions fixes the problem, try to update your phone’s software using a computer via Smart Switch.
> Download and install the Smart Switch for Windows or macOS from Samsung’s Smart Switch website.
> Connect your pone to the computer using the USB cable, then launch Smart Switch on your computer.
> If this is the first time you connected your phone to the computer, tap Allow on your phone to give it access.
> wait for Smart Switch to recognize your phone.
> Smart Switch will then initiate software check and will show your current software details.
> A notification will show on the main screen once a software update is available for your phone.
> Click Update to install the latest software. It will download first to your computer, then side load to your phone.
