Samsung s5 running Android 6 plus rooted device suddenly has an error when opening contacts or dialer. It closes the app and says unfortubately it has stopped working. When opening contacts app it says it’s updating to reflect the new language. All contacts are saved in my Gmail account I can view them and that’s all. I can’t dial a number or add contacts. If I try it says I may not have an app to support this function.

Hi thank you for your response. I have tried to factory reset but it does nothing. Someone suggested I export them in a csv file I think.
Do you think ir may help?
Could it be a malfunction of the phone?

Hi Glenda,
I suggest you try clearing the cache and data of the Contacts app. You can find it under Settings > Applications.
If that doesn’t work, then it’s time you reset your device. You said that all your contacts are saved in your Google account, so they’re safe. Just take time creating a backup of your important files and data, then reset your device.
I hope this helps.
