iMac Smart Switch doesn’t connect with S9+

I’m trying to restore the data from a back from to a new Samsung S9+.  I know the USB cable works because the iMac recognizes the S8+ when I connect the USB cable to it.  I can’t transfer data directly from the S8 because the screen is flashing like a strobe light (the reason I purchased the S9+).  I enabled the ‘developer options’, then turned on the USB Debugging.  What’s odd is when I next go to the ‘Default USB configuration’ there is no MTP(media transfer protocol) option.  Only ‘transferring files’, ‘USB tethering’,’MIDI’,’Transferring images’, and ‘Charging phone only’.  No MTP option to choose.  I tried selecting ‘transferring files’ and ‘transferring images’ but neither change makes the phone ‘seeable’ to my iMac.  The version of Smart Switch on my iMac is 4.3.1.20062_1.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
