This morning my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ randomly started having this issue. No falls or any physical trauma recently. The back of my phone has a slight crack in it from a drop about 2 weeks ago if that matters. I have not downloaded any new apps recently either.
Whenever I would unlock my phone the screen would initially flash a bunch of white lines and then turn on normally. The lock screen would appear and I just had to unlock my phone and use it normally. On a pure white screen you could see that there were areas that were off color but the screen was responsive and I didn’t notice any performance issues.
About a few hours into my day I tried to raise the brightness of my screen. This resulted in the screen glitching quite a bit and now the screen is completely black and I can’t use my phone at all. However, whenever I try to turn my phone on the screen still flashes lines and in the same pattern every time. It’s an initial flash of white and green lines. Then a flash of a white rectangle in the middle of the screen.
Some troubleshooting I did while my phone was usable but had the screen issue. I put the phone in hardware testmode (dialed *#0*#). On this screen the phone had very noticeable discoloration. For reference when I went to the normal settings menu (which had a white background) there was only a thin strip of discoloration on the top and it wasn’t too bad. On the hardware test menu I clicked the red button and the screen went black and as far I could tell unresponsive but I’m not sure on that one. I had to turn my phone off and on again to get it to work.
I tried holding the power button and the down volume button and restarting my phone but that did not fix the issue either.
Thank you for any help.
