I have an old Note 5 from Verizon I was trying to refresh to give to my son and when I charged it the first time after getting it from my storage unit it seemed to boot up fine but was acting a bit sluggish when clicking through the Start phone screens. It got to the Home screen and I tried to connect to Google Play and it was unable to open as it needed an update I let it run the update and it rebooted when complete. During reboot it started in a boot loop (showed the Note 5 splash screen and immediately rebooted. I went to the Recovery options with the Power-Vol Down and selected the wipe System Cache option which appeared to complete properly. However after reboot it never got back to a normal boot. I downloaded the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant and followed the steps to repair the system. It got to 92% Complete and said the phone was disconnected please reconnect and try agin which I did with the same end result. Bought a new Cable thinking it may be the issue yet still have the same issue. Now when it boots it goes directly to a teal colored page that says “Software Update Failed” it recommends using the Verizon Software Upgrade tool which got me to this error in the first place. I did however try again using the tool I uninstalled the Program and downloaded it again from the Verizon web page and reinstalled. ran it and followed the prompts which again looked like it was working until it got to 83% and froze. On the phone display it is the same Teal page with the same message other than now it Small red letters it which says “Secure Check Fail : (System)” I am getting nowhere with this and need help!! Any assistance would be GREATLY Appreciated!
