Cannot attach photos in my texts.

I just got a new phone and it doesn’t have the little paper clip attachment to attach a photo in my text area. I’ve looked everywhere to get that attachment clip on my text so that I can attach things. I’ve even tried tried going to my photos and attaching it and sending it to a text that way. What happens then is that it can possibly says it’s pending but it never completes the send. What’s more difficult to send something from the photo gallery then to hide that simple clip that attaches something in the back. can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong
