Audio sounds only (not the phone communication) is not working properly between my new cell phone “Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro” and my Chrysler Grand Cherokee 2011 – UConnect.
My previous cell phone (older) Motorola G5 Plus was working OK with my car in Audio and communication.
There is an incompatibility with new bluetooth device and old device like my car. I’m pretty sure it is not Xiaomi because the driver is surely made by the provider of the bluetooth chip into the phone.
The problem appears to me as being 2 possibilities:
- UConnect (Brand of the radio) of the Grand Cherokee is not providing any firmware update.
- The newer driver does not support very (super) old devices
If anyone could confirms or tell me if I’m wrong about it, would be appreciated. Thanks!

The Xiaomi phone has Bluetooth 5.0, which I think is really only backwards compatible with Bluetooth 4.0. I assume your old phone has at least Bluetooth 4.0, while your car does not. It’s not necessarily old devices either– Bluetooth 4.0 was released in ~2010, so it might just be your car.

Just want to say thanks to goodnightsweetprince. I will check about the compatibility. I will also try to find more information about UConnect wich is very difficult.
Also… Although my car is 2011, car manufacturer are slow to innovate and there is chance that my car has something older than Bluetooth 4.0.
Thanks a lot.
