I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, which I purchased new from Best Buy 2 years ago. It has NEVER received a software update (not a single one). Whenever I check for software updates via Settings, it comes back saying “Current software is up to date”, but it’s definitely not. I know there have been many updates since the phone was released. For whatever reason, mine just can’t receive them. I have taken it to AT&T stores on several occasions, but they were completely clueless, and unable to help (piss-poor, if you ask me). I have contacted Best Buy, but they are not doing Geek Squad appointments during this COVID-19 lockdown. My current Android Security Patch Level is from February 1, 2018. I have tried all the different methods to try and get this working outlined in this article:
Unfortunately, it’ still the same thing. Even after the Factory Reset, which I just did this morning (I was surprised this didn’t fix it, I must admit). Is there anything left that I can do? Or is my phone just STUCK on the version of the software it shipped with (Android version 8.0.0, Samsung Experience version 9.0)? For whatever it’s worth, my phone is paid off, and I did receive an unlock code from AT&T.
